President's Day was a perfect time when students were off from school and could go visit nearby Washington, D.C. Tianqi and Yichen learned about George Washington (born February 12) and Abraham Lincoln (born February 22) and their significant leadership as presidents with integrity. Then we had lunch in Chinatown with host brothers Ben and David.
The Chinatown gate (background) is at the Gallery Place Metro stop in D.C., and it makes a beautiful place for tourist photos. The students enjoyed a "taste of home" before also touring the Holocaust Museum and the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum.
