Abdul correctly guessed the number of Jelly Beans in the Easter Cup at the front desk of school. The contest was popular all week. Abdul said 150 and there were exactly 149 jelly beans inside! 

​Chinese New Year Festival is a great time to celebrate. The table is all set for many student-friends to gather for a Hot Pot.  

Most students participate in school sports teams during high school. Here is #72, our Chinese boy who quickly learned the game of American football and enjoyed the comradery of spirited teammates at The Tatnall School.

Jack is an undergraduate student with conditional acceptance to the University of Delaware. He is settling in nicely with our family and enjoys watching movies with his new "brothers" to practice his English.

Homestay families like to get together to socialize, and this time the Chinese students volunteered to do the cooking. We really enjoyed the shrimp appetizer, homemade broth for hot pot, and the green tea cake from New York City!

The holiday for Martin Luther King Jr. is a perfect chance to visit the famous sights in Washington, D.C.  Our students enjoyed a supper visit to Ben's Chili Bowl, famous for its chili dogs. President Obama even dined here recently.

We took a field trip to Coney Island, New York. It is famous for its carnival rides and hot dogs, especially at Nathan's seaside food stand. We ate outdoors on this lovely day!

Many countries now celebrate Mother's Day on the second Sunday of May. Our Chinese friends enjoyed the Italian supper at our favorite local restaurant, Cafe Napoli.

More than 150 years ago, young cowboys were hired by the Pony Express to ride horses across the prairie and deliver the mail. A unique relay of riders could make the connection from St. Joseph, Missouri, all the way to Sacramento, California, in just 10 days! This was an important operation for getting the news to the Gold Rush State during the beginnings of the Civil War in 1860.
